The third annual event continues on its mission to elevate rural and township retail while focusing on the inspiring South African entrepreneurs changing the face of retail.

Meet the 2024 Panel
The TRIS2023 panel is made up of successful entrepreneurs, investors, government officials, and community leaders, each bringing their own unique insights and experiences to the discussion.
Additionally, he is a Partner and member of the investment committee at Kingson Capital, a South African-based venture capital firm.
Gladwyn's career includes senior roles at Anglo American's enterprise and supplier development arm, Zimele, as well as at 3 Capital Ventures, CCI Global, Enlabeler, and OneCart. He is also the founder of a peer-to-peer lending platform and occasionally lectures on entrepreneurship and management at the University of the Witwatersrand and Wits Business School.
Committed to economic development, Gladwyn actively participates in investment committees, coaching and mentorship, and supports innovative ventures across Africa.
He has had a dramatic impact on the tutoring industry with his business Goodie Tutors SA, which today prides itself on servicing South Africa's top tier organizations with over 300 tutors nationwide.
In 2021 Godi embarked on a new business adventure with Delivery Ka Speed; a food delivery business that was founded with the sole purpose of bringing convenience to the township market while cultivating a culture of gigwork to alleviate youth unemployment.
Delivery Ka Speed is now present in over 20 townships in Gauteng, Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga.
Godi views innovation as a critical vehicle for inspiring change and is driven to adding value and creating transformational change using his uncanny instincts.
Modise, who grew up in Mabopane near Pretoria, obtained a BCom Accounting at North-West University, after which she joined the Group’s graduate programme as a trainee accountant in 2014. Her roles have included Financial Manager at Shoprite’s Distribution Centre in Johannesburg and Divisional Financial Manager for USave Gauteng.
Combining her education, skills and previous roles in finance with Modise’s extensive experience mentoring of young graduates, she now brings new impetus to the Group’s development of small and medium businesses to give them access to market, to increase local procurement and to create jobs.
He has played a pivotal role in developing over 700 000sqm of rural and township retail developments in his more than two decades in the industry. He joined MPD in 2002 and was appointed as MD in 2011.
In June 2018, he was appointed CEO of Exemplar, the ownership arm of the development company. Exemplar is a listed real estate investment trust with a portfolio of 26 assets.
At the age of 33 he was elected as the youngest director of the South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) and in 2016 he received the SACSC’s inaugural “Young Achiever Award”.
Her experience in the banking, securities and brokering industries has given her a broader knowledge of a wide range of fields within economics, including sector analysis, fixed investment trends, as well as the relationship between real economic trends and developments in the financial markets.
